Mini Multilinguals is a supportive hub for parents raising children with multiple languages. We are a community aimed at providing resources, information, and advice to parents who are on the exciting journey of raising multilingual children.
Our podcast is hosted by Zia, the driving force behind the project: an experienced international teacher, multilingual adult, and now a mother raising her own multilingual child.
Zia has spent years working with multilingual children in international schools across different parts of the world. Spending most of her career focused on early childhood education shaped her understanding of what it means to build strong foundations for language acquisition in young learners. Growing up bilingual herself created a deep understanding of language, identity, and belonging long before she became a parent.
Becoming a mother, and being in a multicultural relationship, brought a new layer to that work. What was once approached solely from a teacher’s perspective is now lived daily at home - balancing research, professional experience, and the realities of family life. Mini Multilinguals was born from that intersection: academic knowledge meeting lived experience.
At its core, Mini Multilinguals brings together evidence-informed guidance, real-life reflection, and practical ideas rooted in everyday routines. Supported by two Master’s degrees and over a decade of classroom experience, Zia is on her own journey to create useful resources backed by research and experience - resources that work for raising her own child, who is currently growing up with five languages. As a mother with high standards for her child’s education, Zia takes the time to research different strategies and speak to specialists in the field, in order to find approaches that truly work for her family. She then shares those insights so that you can create your own approach to raising multilingual children, based on what works best for you.
Mini Multilinguals focuses primarily on early childhood, oral language development, and creating environments where language can grow naturally - without pressure, rigid methods, or comparison to others.
This is not a space for quick fixes or perfection. There is no single method that can be applied to every family. Every child, every family, and every journey is different. This space exists to provide clarity, reassurance, and informed choice, so that you can confidently find what works best for your family. Through the podcast, written resources, and shared conversations, Mini Multilinguals supports parents in understanding how multilingual development works and in navigating it confidently within their own homes.
Mini Multilinguals is both a resource and a community - run by real teachers and also real parents, just like you. We are here to support families raising multilingual children in diverse homes, across cultures, and in different contexts.
